NYC GUIDED LEARNING 2010-11:
Supporting the Facilitator’s Voice
The New York City Guided Learning, now in its 9th year, is accepting new students in March and April of 2010. The program this year will focus on the facilitation aspects of Constellation work in group and individual settings with a strong emphasis on supervision and in-group practice. The primary goal is to guide students to finding their own voices within the Constellation template and translating the approach’s concepts into the student’s sphere of professional interest.
Effective facilitation first and foremost requires alignment with one’s own integrity, thus the course will necessarily include personal work to ensure a trustworthy foundation with respect to the facilitator’s stance. The theoretical underpinnings of the approach will be introduced and there will be abundant opportunity to experience their meaning through exercises and homework assignments. Ample time will be allotted for students to explore their own understandings of the work and to develop their own facilitation styles. Demonstration cases and supervision of cases where applicable will help students move from insight to application.
Together we will consider the range of essential topics, including (not limited to):
The facilitator’s role
The effects of the facilitator’s system on what s/he sees
The trap of the savior
Escaping dyadic thinking
Empowered guidance
Identifying the knot (not) in the system
The role of conscience
The importance of order
The loss of innocence
The weight of words
